Accommodation

If you have booked your accommodation through the conference website and have any questions regarding your reservation, please visit the accommodation desk in the registration area at the entrance of the conference venue.

 

Art Exhibition

The European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS) is holding an art exhibition featuring art work of HIV-positive artists during the 17th European AIDS Conference.

The art exhibition is located in the foyer of level 2.

Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

There is no ATM at the venue, but several are located outside of the venue (and along the street going to city centre). The closest ATM is on the right-hand side when going out of the Congress Centre Basel and passing in front of the Swissôtel.

 

Awards

EACS Award for Excellence in HIV Medicine 2019

A call for nominations was sent to all EACS members during the summer 2019. The results were assessed by the committee that considered the candidates’ sustained effort in the field of HIV/AIDS. It will be awarded during the opening ceremony on Wednesday, November 6 from 17:15-18:45.

European Hector Research Award in HIV 2019

New this year - The H.W. & J. Hector Foundation, Weinheim, is creating and announcing a prize for European HIV research, which will be awarded for the best scientific achievements in the HIV research area in 2019.

The award for basic/translational science will be awarded on Thursday, November 7 at 9:00 in the Event Hall.

The award for clinical/epidemiological science will be awarded on Friday, November 8 at 9:00 in the Event Hall. 

 

Best Poster Awards

The Best Poster Awards will be handed out during the Best Poster Discussions I (room Shanghai 1-2), II (room Boston 1-3), and III (room Darwin) on Friday, November 8 from 12:45 - 13:45.


Certificate of attendance

After the Conference, you will receive an email inviting you to log onto our platform to download your certificate. You will also be invited to complete our short evaluation survey.

 

Closing remarks
The closing remarks will be given on Saturday, November 9, from 12:45 – 13:00 in room Montreal.

Two cloakrooms are at your disposal in the registration area (cloakroom 1) and in the foyer (cloakroom 2). This service is free of charge and will be open during the following times:

CME credits (Continuing Medical Education)

The 17th European AIDS Conference, Basel, Switzerland, 06/11/2019-09/11/2019 has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) for a maximum of 25 European CME credits (ECMEC®s). Each medical specialist should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

 

Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.  Information on the process to convert EACCME® credits to AMA credits can be found at www.ama-assn.org/education/earn-credit-participation-international-activities.

 

Live educational activities occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC® credits are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Conference opening

The conference opening will take place in the Event Hall on November 6 from 17:15- 18:45 (doors open at 16:45). All registered delegates are invited to attend this event.

EACS Guidelines v10.0
The version 10.0 of the EACS Treatment Guidelines will be distributed free of charge on the EACS booth in the exhibition hall and presented in a special session on Thursday, November 7 from 16:30 - 17:30 in the Event Hall.

 

The Guidelines are also available as a mobile app, downloadable on iTunes and Google Play.

 

EACS pre-educational course
The EACS pre-educational course will take place on November 6, from 09:30 - 16:00, on level 2 in room Singapore. It is intended for junior physicians and other health care professionals managing HIV infection. The course is free of charge for anyone interested and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The main topics of this course are:

  • Non-AIDS respiratory issues
  • Dermatology in the modern era of HIV
  • Sleep issues beyond efavirenz
  • Using new ARVs in real life
  • YING session


Exhibition hall
Conference delegates are invited to visit the exhibition hall which will feature commercial exhibitors and non-commercial HIV organisations. It will be open during the following times:

Film, photo and video recording
EACS and K.I.T. Group work together to create a comprehensive overview of the conference interactions and events which may be of promotional interest to the Society. Accordingly, please be advised that you may be filmed or photographed at any time (in the session rooms, ePosters area, etc.), and that any presentations you deliver (Best Poster Discussions, etc.) may be recorded.

First aid
There is a staffed first aid room situated on level 2 of the Congress Center Basel, close to rooms Singapore and Sydney. Any member of staff will be able to assist you in finding it.

 

HIV Self-Testing & Prevention area

Located in the exhibition hall, and designed by EACS for the community, this area aims to provide more information about self-testing and prevention.

Flash interactive presentations are proposed during the coffee and lunch breaks.

 

This area is supported by an unrestricted grant from Gilead.

 

Insurance and liability
The Conference Organiser (European AIDS Clinical Society (EACS)), the EACS Conference Secretariat and the Congress Center Basel shall not be held liable for personal injury or any loss or damage to the belongings of conference delegates, either during or as a result of the Conference. Please check the validity of your own insurance to cover loss incurred in the event of cancellation, medical expenses, or damage to or loss of personal effects. EACS cannot be held liable for any hindrance or disruption of the European AIDS Conference proceedings arising from natural, political, social or economic events or other unforeseen incidents beyond its control.

Lost and found
Please contact the registration team for personal belongings which have been lost or found.

 

Name badge
A name badge is required for admittance to all official conference sessions and events. Each delegate is required to present the badge to access the Conference. The name badge must be clearly displayed. If an attendee loses, misplaces or forgets their name badge, a handling fee of EUR70 will be charged for a new badge and the lost badge will be invalidated.

 

People with disabilities
The Congress Center Basel is fully accessible to conference participants with disabilities.

WAVE - Women Against Viruses in Europe
The EACS WAVE workshop promoting the welfare of women living with HIV in Europe will take place on November 6, 2019 from 10:00 to 13:00 in room Singapore on level 2. The workshop is intended for healthcare professionals and community representatives with an interest in promoting equality of access to care, excellence in standard of care, and delivering targeted educational programmes. The workshop is free of charge for anyone interested. Registration is compulsory and is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about WAVE, please click here.
